Every Friday, students will "drop everything and read" for a full class period, or approximately 42 minutes. Students should select a book that they can read independently, and it should be the same book they read during homeroom each day. Personal visits to a classroom library, WDMS Library, a local library, or a bookstore will be necessary.
During the 42-minute class period of reading, students should mark significant passages with post-it notes and write a note stating what literary terms are alive in the passage. By the end of the period each Friday, students will submit an exit ticket (form posted on Google classroom) analyzing a chosen passage of text from their personal reading books.
Even if a student is absent on a Friday, he or she is still responsible for reading for a class period and submitting an exit ticket.
